The Future of Fish Farming

In Southern Spain, the Veta La Palma is a fish farm that is giving “sustainable” a whole new meaning. Inspired by Dan Barber’s TED talk on the subject, Daniel Klein of The Perennial Plate made a trek out one windy afternoon to these flooded wetlands to learn about an alternative approach to fish farming.

This company considers losing around twenty percent of their product to migratory birds to be a part of their success.

    it would be more humane to kill them quickly in an electrified water bath as they do in trout farms in Germany, than to leave the poor animal suffocating on the ice.
